Schon im Juni 2017 hat der bekannte IT-Konzern IBM ein Patent für einen Hologramm 3D-Drucker beantragt. Nun wurde das Patent mit dem Namen “3d printing on the surface of an acoustic hologram” veröffentlicht.
Schon 2017 stellte das Unternehmen Daqri eine Hologramm-Technologie für den 3D-Druck vor. Hierbei wurde ähnlich wie bei dem DLP-Verfahren ein Objekt mittels einer Lichtquelle aus einem photosensitiven, flüssigen Wachs hergestellt. Allerdings wird bei der Technologie das Objekt nicht Schicht für Schicht aufgebaut, sondern in einem Schritt, basierend auf dem Hologramm.
IBM setzt hier jedoch auf ein “akustisches Hologramm”, welches mit Hilfe von Schallwellen im 3D-Druck-Bereich erzeugt wird. Somit sollen in einen Schritt hohle Objekte geschaffen werden. Ob diese dann dauerhaft feste Objekte bleiben oder nur temporär, geht aus dem Patent nicht hervor.
In der Zusammenfassung des Patents wird das Verfahren wie folgt beschrieben:
“A method and associated systems for 3D printing on the surface of an acoustic hologram uses an array of sound-wave emitters to generate a three-dimensional acoustic hologram of an object to be printed. This hologram is composed of acoustic standing waves that exert invisible acoustic radiation forces in three-dimensional space that feel like surfaces of a solid object. The resulting hologram creates a tactile illusion of an object floating in space within a three-dimensional printing area. When a 3D-printing medium is applied to the surface of the hologram, the medium solidifies on the hologram’s surface to generate a hollow shell in the shape of the object to be printed.”
Das Patent hat die Nummer US20180361680A1 und wurde am 19. Juni 2017 beantragt. Als Erfinder werden Harish Bharti, Abhay K. Patra und Sarbajit K. Rakshit angegeben.
