OPM erhält Freigabe für 3D-gedruckte Gesichtsimplantate

Oxford Performance Materials hat vor Kurzem die Freigabe für das OsteoFab Patient-Specific Facial Device von der US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) erhalten.

Diese 3D-gedruckten, auf den Patienten abstimmbare Gesichtsimplantate sind die ersten und derzeit einzigen der FDA zugelassenen Kunstoffimplantate für Indikationen im Gesichtsbereich. OPM hat bereits im Februar letzten Jahres die Freigabe für das dafür verwendete OsteoFab Druckmaterial für Knochenimplantate aus Kunststoff  bekommen.

Die Implantate werden aus dem OXPEKK Pulver mittels Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) 3D-Druckverfahren hergestellt. Vorlage für den 3D-Druck sind CT Aufnahmen oder MRT Dateien.
