Solid Concepts – Skate Board Design Challenge

Solid Concepts, ein amerikanischer 3D-Druck Dienstleister, startet Designwettbewerb in den USA und Canada.

Vor einem Jahr haben Architektur Studenten der UCLA über Solid Concepts Skateboards drucken lassen. Damit sind sie jetzt unter dem Namen Cavity Skateboards bekannt geworden. Solid Concepts fordert mit dem Wettbewerb jetzt Designer dazu auf ihr persönliches 3D-Modell einzuschicken und druckt den Gewinner, der über Facebook bestimmt wird, sein Design aus.

Die Regeln für Interessierte:

The Rules

1. Skateboard designs must be original and participants must be in the US or Canada.

2. Skateboard designs must be unique, but functional. A simple flat board might ride well, but it doesn’t present a challenge. 3D printing is fundamentally rooted in the continued evolution of traditional ways of manufacturing.a. Skateboard decks that are not deemed functional – i.e. not structurally sound – won’t qualify.

3. Skateboard decks must fit within these parameters:
a. The length cannot exceed 25.5”.
b. The deck must be at least 0.475” in thickness; thickness heavily depends on the design, and may need to increase beyond our recommended minimum.

4. The top five finalists will be uploaded to the Solid Concepts Facbeook page. The final two winners will be decided by votes from Facebook “Likes”. Final winners receive 3D printed skateboard decks complimentarily manufactured by Solid Concepts via Selective Laser Sintering (SLS).

5. Designs must be submitted in an STL file format to marketing@solidconcepts.com no later than June 30th. We additionally recommend a JPEG rendering of your design for optimum Facebook exposure.
