Windows 8.1 unterstützt 3D-Drucker – (Update)

27.06.2013 – Microsoft präsentiert ein “3D Printer SDK” für Windows 8.1 und ermöglicht künftig so einfachen 3D-Druck vom Windows Betriebssystem aus.

Wie bei einem 2-D Drucker sollen künftig auch 3D-Drucker direkt vom Betriebsystem Windows aus angesteuert werden können. Damit öffnet Microsoft sein Betriebsystem für eine massentaugliche Anwendung von 3D-Drucker in der Zukunft. Dabei setzt Microsoft auf das Dateiformat .3MF. Derzeit werden die Geräte Cube von 3D Systems und der MakerBot Replicator unterstützt.

MakerBot Replicator künftig auch in Microsoft Stores erhältlich

Zusätzlich kündigt MakerBot noch eine weitere Zusammenarbeit mit Microsoft an. Künftig werden die Replicator 2 3D-Drucker auch in Microsoft Stores (auch online) erhältlich sein. Auch das stellt einen weiteren wichtigen Schritt dar, um 3D-Drucker der breiten Masse zugänglich zu machen.

Update: 18.10.2013 – Microsoft veröffentlichte Windows 8.1 und plant engere Zusammenarbeit mit 3D-Technologie Unternehmen

Um die Kompatibilität des Microsoft Betriebssystem mit weiteren Herstellern aus der 3D-Drucker Branche auszubauen, plant Microsoft künftig eine engere Zusammenarbeit mit den Unternehmen 3D Systems, Stratasys, ExOne, Autodesk, Dassault Systemes, Formlabs, MakerBot, Tiertime und Kinpo Group.
