Formlabs kauft Pinshape

Ende März wurde bekannt, dass der 3D Marktplatz Pinshape seine Tore schließt und schon Anfang April war klar, dass ein Investor an Pinshape zeigt – Pinshape schließt doch nicht.

Nun wurde bekannt, wer dieser Investor ist. Es is Formlabs, der amerikanische Hersteller hinter den Form 1, Form 1+ und Form 2 SLA 3D Druckern. Formlabs nimmt Pinshape so in sein Ecosystem auf.

Wie wichtig es ist eine Plattform für Designer und seine Nutzer zu haben, hat schon MakerBot mit seiner 3D Modellplattform Thingiverse gezeigt. Für Einsteiger bietet eine Plattform wie Thingiverse oder Pinshape eine nahezu unendliche Quelle für Objekte zum 3D Drucken. Und für Designer bietet eine Plattform ihre Arbeiten zu präsentieren und zu teilen. Auf jeden Fall ein wichtiger Teil für das Ecosystem eines Herstellers von 3D Druckern.
